Welcome to Brocks Upper Room (BUR)

This is who we are and a few links and downloads to get you started:

We're devoted to Jesus in Prayer.

We're dedicated to training children and youth in combining music, prayer and the scriptures. (What we call Harp & Bowl)

We're desiring to see families and the local church
come into creative [musical] expressions of enjoyable worship & prayer, resulting in continous prayer!

School of Music Information (Kansas City, MO)

Students and their families are taught in the established Suzuki method (learning a system of classical music by ear, similar to learning a language.) Once the student has established good form and proper technique, he/she learns the skill of note-reading.

Students are taught in weekly master classes and group classes. The parent is the home teacher for the younger students. Each student has the following classes during group: Suzuki Repertoire, Theory/note-reading and Harp & Bowl (combining worship, scriptures and prayer). Students are also required to memorize selected passages of scripture and to practice daily. We start children as young as four, and encourage adults/parents to study as well. New families are required to take a parent training class. (See New Student Information.)

Creativity in Heaven: Harp and Bowl Worship and Prayer
The creative interaction of worship, music and prayer are modeled in the Bible [Revelation 5:8] where Harp and Bowl (Worship/Music and Prayer) are happening continuously 24/7. The heavenly model in Revelation 5:8 shows a lively, interaction between music [harps] and prayer [bowls of incense] ranging from antiphonal call and response to question and answer, all in the context of worshipping the Lamb of God, Jesus, the Son of God!

Revelation 5.8,9: "...The four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, having each one a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints. And they sang a new song, [Antiphonally] saying, Worthy art Thou..."
(Scripture quotations taken from the NASB)

Prayer is more enjoyable to children and youth when they can express prayer in their own creative language, including music and art. Every generation has to find and explore its own unique expression in prayer and the scriptures.

Thoughts...

These are like the Days of Noah a Tipping Point: Judgment vs. Worldwide Revival. According to tradition after 120 years of warnings the rains of Noahs flood began gently giving people one more opportunity to repent. Their repentance could have lead to a global revival which is what God desired.
